PVRIS' AWAITED RETURN: 'DEATH OF ME'

                                                                                                                                                        Source: twitter.com

Following the astounding waves PVRIS initiated in the alternative scene from their earlier releases, 'White Noise' (2014) and 'All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell' (2017), the trio are ricocheting back into our eardrums in an inextinguishable ferocity with their new single, 'Death Of Me'

The three-piece from Massachusetts continue to astonish the scene with their macabre intricacies and countless depths that are applicable to their music and videos alike. 'Death Of Me' possesses familiarities reminiscent of previous PVRIS eras, including tip-of-the-hat references to older songs such as 'Heaven' (2017) in 'Cause heaven knows what you do to me', providing devoted audiences with concepts to delve into while waiting with anticipation for the band's hopefully imminent next release. Fervid frontwoman, Lynn Gunn, states that these allusions were deliberate, in order to tide over their eager audience - 'We also hid, in plain view, references to the occult and divination, to be unpacked by the viewer... if they so choose'.

PVRIS' music has always carried an avant-garde nature, allowing them to propel through the ranks in the industry and become one of the most admired and envied bands out there right now. In a scene so saturated in artificiality and churned-out, over-distorted pop punk, PVRIS' eerie aesthetic has sliced through the pizza-grease-sodden community with ease. Their fearless ability to distort their once ghoulish style into a pulsing medley of dark vibes, occult imagery and muscle-twinging beats prove that they are able to retain the band's pre-existing brand, while allowing for a more revolutionary delivery. Their innovation and unmatched impressibility proves that Lynn Gunn, Alex Babinski and Brian MacDonald are bounds away from the insincerity of the cookie-cutter bands that blend in to the hazy background of the alternative music scene.

The new single, accompanied by an eldritch music video and newly announced spree of  Intimate Shows, act as nothing but catalysts to PVRIS' career, that continues to heighten at breakneck speed - as few bands can perform both musically and personally at such an intense calibre. PVRIS shredded the norms of genre from their explosive entry in 2012, and continue to demolish our expectations in the most perfectly ravenous way to this day. I cannot wait to see what frenzy they whip us into next.
